Jack Dow, 83, of Medford, Ore., passed away March 25, 2014. Jack was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Klamath Falls to George and Ellamae Dow. He had many fond memories of living in the Keno area, camping, hunting and fishing with his parents and younger brother, George. After high school, Jack proudly served in the Navy. He graduated from the University of Oregon and began his teaching career at Klamath Union High School, teaching English for 28 years. Jack enjoyed music ranging from Western to classical, poetry and his seven summers touring England. He married the love of his life, Shirley (Gaylord) Tockey, in June 1974, becoming the step-father to Janice and Ken, whom he loved as his own. Jack is survived by his wife, Shirley; brother, George (Georgia); daughter, Janice (Randy) Magallanes; son. Ken (Linda) Tockey; granddaughter, Heather (Jason) Merrihew; grandson. Jim Tockey; and great-grandchildren, Saiah and Craig Merrihew. Jack "The Best of the Best" will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be April 12, 2014, at 2 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church in Klamath Falls.
