John L. Fletcher, 88, passed away peacefully of natural causes Sunday, March 9, 2014, in the city of Santa Ana, Calif. John was born May 12, 1925 to Fred D. Fletcher and Elda R. Offield Fletcher in Klamath Falls. John graduated from Riverside grade school and Klamath Union High School. John joined the Navy V6 program in 1943 and became an ensign, having graduated from the University of Colorado as an aeronautical engineer. After his Navy service, he returned to the University of Colorado and earned more degrees. John was an aerospace engineer and manager for several firms over the span of his 45-year career. At the time of his retirement, John was the director of vehicle energy and biotechnology, a subdivision of engineering for McDonald Douglas Aeronautics Company in Huntington Beach, Calif. John is lovingly survived and remembered by his son, John B. Fletcher; daughter, Janett K. Hawley; brother, Fred G. Fletcher; three nieces, Lynn Tofell, Rhonda O'Connor and Laurie Railsback, and their families. John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in 2002, and by both parents and his sister-in-law, Paula Fletcher. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Saddleback Chapel Mortuary in Tustin, Calif. Private family interment services will be at Oakwood Memorial Park, Chatsworth, Calif.
