Arthur Owen Hildahl passed away peacefully in his sleep February 1, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham, WA surrounded by loving family. He was born June 16, 1918 to immigrant Norwegian parents, Edward Hildahl and Ingeborg Salveson Hildahl. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and began his 44 year career with Boeing as a Jr Engineer. During WWII, he took leave from Boeing and resigned his commission in the Coast Guard Reserve to proudly serve his country in the Pacific theater as a Marine. After the war he met and married Elaine Elizabeth Russell at Denny Park Lutheran Church August 28, 1948. They made their home on Magnolia Bluff and started their family – Cynthia, Joel and Jennifer. Later, they moved to Edmonds and spent many happy summers at their cabin in Birch Bay, which he later remodeled. They spent their retirement at Birch Bay and in Yuma, AZ. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elaine; and children, Cynthia Beam (David), Bainbridge Island, Joel Hildahl, Camano Island, and Jennifer Greene (William), West Seattle; nine grandchildren, Hilary and Elliot Beam; Aaron, Seth, Owen and Ethan Hildahl; and Angela, Emily and (Arthur) Robert Greene. He was predeceased by his parents; and two sisters, Edith Ostlund and Evelyn Kappler. A viewing will be held at Jerns Funeral Chapel, Friday, February 7, 2014 from 1-4 p.m. Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church with reception following service Saturday, February 8, at 11 a.m. 702 G Street Blaine, WA Our family would like to thank the nurses at St Joseph's Hospital and the staff from Home Attendant Care Inc.
