Billy Hansel Jr., 86, of Marysville, Washington, passed away on April 6, 2014. He was born July 26, 1927 in Harlan, Kentucky to William and Mary Hansel. Billy served in the US Navy during WWII, was onboard the USS Biloxi and played in the Navy Band. He was an avid fan of the Mariner's and enjoyed watching the games on TV. After the war, he moved to Chicago where he met Jean Hardes Nelson. They were married in Everett, WA a few months later. Billy worked at the Everett Herald on the printing presses for 33 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Jean Hardes Hansel. Billy is survived by his son, Stephen Hansel of Marysville, WA; three grandchildren, Tiffany (Michael) Nixon; Benjamin (Elizabeth) Hansel and Nathan Hansel; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside Services with military honors will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Evergreen Cemetery, Everett, Washington. Arrangements are entrusted to Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery.
