Caren Sassower Dyson of Edmonds, WA passed away Wednesday May 8, 2013 at the age of 58.
Caren Sassower Dyson
She is survived by her dedicated husband of 30 years, Marvin; and her three beautiful children, Matthew, Jared, and Brianna. She is also lovingly remembered by her father, Harry Sassower of Boynton Beach, FL; and two siblings: Stan Sassower of Burlington, MA and Sheryl Schwartz of Herndon, VA.
Caren was born in New York City, New York on March 30, 1955. After graduating from Stony Brook University, she moved from New York to Seattle to attend law school at the University of Washington. At the age of 21 she passed the bar and fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming an attorney.
Caren later went back to school to obtain her teaching certificate. When she wasn't practicing law, she worked as a substitute teacher. From her students to her clients, she truly found fulfillment in helping others.
Caren had an adventurous spirit and loved to experience all the different things that life had to offer. She had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and beauty of nature. She loved to take hikes up to waterfalls, go on camping trips in her RV, take rides in her boat, and so on.
Caren was also an avid reader of mystery novels and liked to challenge her mind by working crossword puzzles. She firmly believed in never wasting a moment; she tried to fill every free second she had with activities that brought her joy.
Becoming a mom was Caren's greatest accomplishment. Her children were her pride and joy, and she loved them unconditionally. She took great pride in being able to put all three of them through college.
A service in celebration of Caren's life will be held at the home of her husband in early July. Further details will be provided later.
