Carolyn (Marshall) Garrett Carolyn was born to Jerry and Winnie Garrett in Salado, Arkansas on August 15, 1937. She moved to California with her schoolteacher parents when she was 14. She attended high school in Tulare and Lancaster, CA. She was married to Carl Leach from 1959 to 1964. Her son, Brian, was born in 1960. Carolyn completed her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 1965. Carolyn married Bob Marshall in 1966 and moved to Phoenix, AZ. She taught at Andalucia Elementary School in Phoenix from 1968-'70 and completed her Master's degree in Education at Arizona State University. They adopted daughter Michelle in 1969. In 1970 the family moved to Seattle. The marriage to Bob Marshall ended in 1972. Also in 1972, Carolyn, known as Carolyn Marshall at the time, began 13 years of teaching English, Journalism, Drama and Bible, and serving as principal at Mountlake Christian School, Mountlake Terrace, WA. She endeared herself to her students as a very special, caring person. During this period she took additional schooling to earn a principal's certificate. Carolyn taught English at King's Garden from 1990 - '92. In 1993 she moved to Sun City, AZ to care for her mother, Winnie and aunt, May. She worked for several years at Boswell Hospital in Sun City. Carolyn passed away unexpectedly at home on October 29, 2013. She is survived by her son, Brian Garrett; and daughter, Michelle Marshall. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 1:30 p.m. at the Mountlake Terrace campus of Cedar Park Christian Schools, formerly Mountlake Christian School, 23607 54th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043.
