Cody Cecil, age 30, passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, June 4, 2014. He was taken from us suddenly while sleeping on his ship, the Alpine Cove, while docked in Kodiak, Alaska. Cody was born in Everett, Washington on January 24, 1984; he was the third of four children. Raised in Everett, Cody graduated from Everett High School in 2002, then went on to serve four years in the Marine Corps. He served two tours in Iraq as an Engineer Equipment Mechanic. Following his service, Cody focused on going back to school to obtain his college degree, supporting himself by performing a variety of jobs. Cody could be referred to as a "jack of all trades." In 2013, Cody decided to join the crew of the Alpine Cove and fish in Alaska. Cody enjoyed the outdoors, being on the water, getting up early or staying up all night to watch the sunrise. Cody loved any and all sports, but most of all, Cody loved the Seattle Seahawks. Cody's love for the Seahawks was like none other - most would say the day the Seahawks won the Super Bowl was the best day of his life. Cody is survived by his mother and stepfather, Pam and Joe Weller; two sisters, Kirstin Simmons and Krystal Weller (soon to be Chambers); brother Cameron Cecil; grandparents, Roland and Deanna Mueller and Joseph Weller Sr.; many aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, nephews and nieces; an overwhelming number of friends; plus Cooper, the dog girl. Cody is preceded in death by his father, John R. Cecil; and grandparents, Paul and Peggy Cecil, Betty Hinton and Delores Weller. A visitation for Cody will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway in Everett, Wash. beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Cody's funeral service, interment and a reception will follow beginning at 12:00 p.m. In honor of Cody, we ask that you wear your Seahawks colors or jersey to his service. Memorial donations may be made to the National Veterans Foundation or the Puget Sound Kidney Center, Everett, WA.
