Barnes Elvin "Bud" Monroe Barnes age 82 of Everett passed away peacefully at his home January 20, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born May 22, 1931, in Waynoka, Oklahoma to parents, Theodore and Nora Barnes. After graduating from high school, he entered the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. After serving his country he attended Oklahoma State University and earned an Engineering degree in Drafting and Design. He moved to Washington where he worked for the Boeing Company for thirty years as an Air Balance Technician Engineer and earned many awards. After "retiring" he continued as a freelance consultant with his own business up until 2013. Bud is survived by his wife of 28 years, Lillian; his brother, Delbern (wife Jessie); his sons, Steven (wife Susie) and Douglas Ford (Ruth); and his daughters, Catherine (Kitty) Dooly (husband Mike), Karen Hoye (husband Dave), Colleen Rader (husband Robert), and Teresa Clawson (husband David). Also grandchildren, Amy, Candyce, Bobby, Beth, Alex; and great grandchild Cierra. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nora and Theodore; his brother, Olon; and sister, Elvinia. We have lost a special part of our lives and are eternally grateful for his unquestioning love and understanding. Dad was the rock on which we leaned and depended on. He will be greatly missed but we take great comfort that he is at peace and with his parents. A memorial service will be held on Monday January 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Ave. Everett, WA.
