Gene Crittenden passed away peacefully on November 17, 2013. He was born August 19, 1926 in Westport, OK. Gene was a private business owner before joining the U.S. Coast Guard and being honorably discharged in 1945. Gene went on to serve in the U.S. Merchant Marines and retired after 20 years service to the Pacific Military Sealift Command in 1986. Gene attained the rank of captain while serving aboard the USMS North Star III. Gene attended the decommissioning of the North Star III in New York. Gene met his wife Frances in 2001 and finally married her in 2008. They traveled extensively together and later spent many hours playing cards with their beloved cats at their sides. Gene is survived by his daughters, Cheryl and Michele; grandsons, Rich and Ryan; niece, Jeanie, who was named for him, Vernon; stepdaughters, Christy, Sherry, Franki and Jonni; and stepson, Greg. Gene will be cremated and his ashes preserved for burial at a later date. No services are planned.
