Jon was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George and Marvel Haffenden and moved to Everett when Jon was seven.
1939 - February 2, 2013
He was raised in the Laurel Heights neighborhood with his younger sister Carol. Jon was a 1957 graduate of Everett High. He attended Everett Junior College and the University of Washington where he studied Engineering. During this time he worked for City Floral.
Jon worked as a draftsman for West Coast Telephone, then moved to the PUD where he retired as an Engineer in 1993. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1966.
Jon married Veva in 1973 and made their home in Mukilteo, WA. They had one son, Chad. It was a joy to watch Jon and Chad's warm and close relationship.
Jon also leaves behind his sister, Carol Best; brothers-in-law, Jack Turk (Nancy), Jerry Turk (Pat) and Dave Trapp; his sisters-in-law, Dixie Eldred and Judy Baker; 11 nieces and nephews; and 15 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Robert Eldred and Brian Best.
Jon was a kind, quiet gentleman with a wonderfully dry sense of humor. Jon enjoyed playing golf and after retirement had regular tee times with a special group of fellow retirees from the PUD. He had a wide variety of interests and had no trouble filling his free time with everything from watching a ballet to attending Seahawks football games with his family.
At Jon's request there will be no services. He always said he had a better life than he ever dreamed possible and we are all so blessed to be a part of it. Jon leaves us with love and peace in our hearts and so many good memories that will be with us always and can never be taken away.
