Karen Ward Parkes Christensen

Karen Elizabeth Ward Parkes Christensen, 70, passed away on December 4, 2012, at her home in Everett. She was born August 6, 1942, in Heber, Utah, the daughter of Mark T. Ward and Orpha E. Frisbey Ward Pearson.
She worked in the addiction treatment field for more than 32 years, in Seattle, Longview, Walla Walla, Hawaii, Canada and Bermuda. In 1995, she founded Recovery Connections in Everett.
Karen is survived by her son, David Gardner; and daughter, Lorri Fidler; grandchildren, Clarissa, Spencer, Elizabeth and Caslon; sister, Suzanne Fleming; and brothers, M. Terry Ward and Joseph R. Ward.
A celebration of her life will be held at Bellevue Christian Reformed Church, 1221 148th Ave. NE, Bellevue, on January 12, 2013 at 3 p.m. A potluck reception will follow at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Assistance League of Everett (5107 Evergreen Way, Everett, WA 98203) or Residence XII Chemical Dependency Treatment Center for Women (12029 113th Ave NE, Kirkland WA 98034).
