The youngest of Ed and Ethel Reischman's six children, Mary (Reischman) Callies had a contagious smile that conveyed her profound kindness. Having graduated from Everett High School in 1970, she went on to study nursing at the University of Washington. Mary would find the love of her life, Mike Callies, while skydiving in Seattle. They would wed in 1973, and settle down in Encinitas Calif., where they would raise their three boys. She returned to the classroom at the age of 44 to admirably complete her nursing degree. After dedicating 10 years to selflessly caring for others as a nurse, she came to require care herself. At the all-too-young age of 62, on July 7, 2014, Mary passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and friends. Mary is predeceased by her older brothers, Bob and Tom, as well as her sister, Sue; and is survived by her two loving sisters, Kay and Nancy, as well as her devoted husband, Mike, and her three boys, Matthew, Daniel, and David, and grandchildren, Madison and Sawyer. She imbued everyone with whom she crossed paths with love, laughter, and warmth, and just as a harmony remains in one's ear despite the music having come to a close, Mary's love, laughter, and warmth will remain in each and every one of us. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on July 18, 2014, at St. John's Catholic Church, 1001 Encinitas Blvd., Encinitas, Calif., 92024. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the UCSD Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer Research Center, 9500 Gilman Dr., La Jolla, Calif., 92093-0948.
