Moses Howard "Dave" Davis


Moses "Dave" Howard Davis, 103, of Marysville passed away July 6, 2014. He was born January 22, 1911, in Mingo, Ky., to Proctor and Loula Davis. Dave served in the US Navy for 21 years before retiring in 1953, 19 ½ of those years at sea. He was proud of the time he served his country. He also worked for the Washington State Reformatory for 16 years before retiring in 1972. He was a life time member of the Mt. Vernon Elks Lodge, a member of the Arlington American Legion Post 76, and a member of the Fleet Reserve. Dave loved his family and mowing some lawn on his John Deere lawn mower. The word that was always used in association with dad, was "amazing," he really was. Dave is survived by his two sons and their spouses, Don (Olivia) Davis, and Jim (Carol) Davis; his brother P.R. Davis of Kentucky; his three grandchildren, Scott (Kendall) Davis, Brian (Allison) Davis, and Lena Davis; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Davis, Katie Davis, Luke Davis, and Garrett Davis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat, of 65 years, and five other siblings, Elizabeth, Vertries, Herbert, William, and Louise. A celebration of Dave's life will be held at his home. The date will be announced at a later date. Burial at Marysville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to in Dad's name. Arrangements entrusted to Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home.
