Obituary

DDS Jan. 1, 1925 - Dec. 10, 2013 Raymond McCann passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at about 4:50 p.m. He was born January 1, 1925 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Wilber and Gertrude McCann. He spent most of his young life in Minneapolis, he attended North High School. Following High School he enlisted into the US Coast Guard and was stationed in Louisiana and then Seattle Washington. He was assigned to the USS Pocatello and spent a great amount of time in the Bering Sea in Alaska during World War II. Based in Seattle he met a young lady named Arlene Ellefson (also from Minnesota) whom he fell in love with and married. She proceeded him in death on August 1, 2000. Leaving the service he started schooling for his dental career at Moorehead State University and later transferred and got his DDS degree at the University of Washington and began a practice in Mountlake Terrace Washington. In 1955 he was one of the founding members of St. Pius X . Together they had three children: Raymond J McCann, Linda Lee McCann and Janet Rene McCann. They had four grandchildren: Tamitha Rae McCann, Adam Houghton, Kimberly (Houghton) Reed and Jessie ( Curran) Sills; great-grandchildren also finished the chain: Annberly Sills, Daniel Reed and Parker Reed. He leaves behind his sister, Ann Meyer from New Richmond, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews in Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack; and sister, Lorraine who will greet him at his next journey. Services will be held at St Pius X Catholic Church in Mtlk Terrace, December 19, 2013. Rosary at 11 a.m. and funeral at 11:30 a.m.
