Robert (Bob) Caldwell 90, of Stanwood WA died March 22, 2014. Born July 19, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. While training in England, he played stand-up bass with the Glenn Miller Band and Jimmy Durante. Following service in France with the 8th Air Force, 34th Bomb Group, 7th Squad, he married Gloria Dole in 1945. He passed the bar, practiced law in Ohio until moving to CA in 1953. He moved to Marysville, WA in 1965 and raised Appaloosa horses and was an avid mountain and trail rider. After meeting Ken Wilcox and becoming good friends they jointly formed Back Country Horseman of WA, which grew to 35 chapters across the state.In March, 1980 he married Colleen Banks. Survivors include: wife, Colleen; daughters, Bronwyn Caldwell Mayo and Carrie Johnson; grandchildren: Jed Howard, Jeremy Banks, Zachary Schaeffer and Chelan Corbitt; brother, Jim Caldwell; niece, Dinah Bissinger and two great-grandsons. Preceded in death by his parents, Harry W. and Florence Caldwell; his first wife, Gloria; and nephew, David.
