Roland Dick Obituary

Roland S. Dick Jr, 85, passed away February 25, 2014. Roland better known as "Ron" was born July 25, 1928 in Walla Walla, WA to Wilma and Roland Dick Sr. He graduated from Everett H.S. in 1946 and from the U. of W. in 1950 with a degree in Civil Engineering. On December 19, 1950 he married Jerry Greenleaf, shortly before boarding a ship leaving Bremerton Ship Yard for Korean waters. After the war, he joined the CEC-Reserves, eventually attaining the rank of Commander. For a number of years, Ron worked for A&E offices in Seattle, after which he joined Civil Service and served in the Engineering Command at Fort Lewis for five years. He and his family moved to Bremerton in 1975, where he then worked at the Supply Center for PSNS until retiring in 1988. Ron was a life member of University Masonic Lodge #141, Seattle Scottish Rite, Everett Elks Lodge, University of Washington Alumni Club, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Bremerton Yacht Club (1983 Commodore and Honorary Member) and a member of Summit Ave. Presbyterian Church. Ron leaves behind his beloved wife, three sons and their families: Darryl (Darlene) of Oakville, WA, David (Jennifer) of Vancouver WA, Roly (Stene) of Bremerton WA; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister, Diane and David Diffoid of Vancouver WA. Memorial service will be held at Summit Ave. Presbyterian Church, Saturday March 15, 2014 at 2 p.m. Remembrances if desired, may be made to Alzheimer's Research or Kitsap County Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel, Bremerton, WA.
