Vernon R. Fitch Vernon R. Fitch, 95, passed away June 29, 2014, in Marysville. He was a pioneer in this area. He was born to Burton and Gladys Fitch in Marysville, June 17, 1919. He went through the Marysville school system graduating from "MHS" in 1937. He then enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. He spent eight years in the service that included the duration of WWII. His many years of sea time were spent in the North Atlantic and the Pacific. After WWII he returned to his hometown and continued to raise a family and began to work in electrical power line construction as well as trying his hand at commercial fishing. He soon found out that he was good at both endeavors, which lead to fifty year careers in each field. Vern was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, in 2002, and two very young babies, Constance J. and John D. Fitch, along with two sisters and four brothers. He is survived by daughter, Joan (Alan) Klepper; and son, Rick (Patti) Fitch; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He would also want to mention his dear friend and sister-in-law, Ella Fitch, and his long enduring close friendship with Audrey and Chuck Pilon. Vern (Dad) was a quiet and unassuming man with a great sense of humor, big heart and most important, he was a great father. He was truly a great example and member of AMERICA'S GREATEST GENERATION! At his request there will be no services.
