Bart R. Bartusek 66, of Sarasota passed away June 17, 2013. Bart was born and raised in Mason City, Iowa. He joined the U.S. Air Force out of high school and served a tour in Viet Nam. After the service he received his Bachelors' Degree from Mankato State University in Minnesota. His career began with G.T.E. in communications and advertising moving him and his family to several different states. He went into business with a partner in Atlanta, Ga. In communications which was bought by a company that brought him and his wife to Sarasota in 1998. He retired, but went on to acquire and manage 2 businesses in Sarasota where he remained active until his passing. Known for the saying "lets do something" Bart had many passions. He loved sailing the gulf area in his sailboat, scuba diving, motor cycle riding, kayaking, biking, and all water sports plus traveling the world with his wife. He was a member of the Sarasota Yacht Club and National Rifle Association, Scuba Diving Association. Bart is survived by his wife of 45 years Sheryl of Sarasota, Fl. Sons Josh of Tampa, Fl. and Jesse of Glenwood Springs, Co. 4 grandchildren, Corin and Ryan of Longmont, Co. and Jace and Jada of Tampa, Fl., brother Donald (Barbara) Bartusek of Columbia, Md. Several brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations can be sent in his name to Tidewell Hospice of Sarasota, Florida or to your local food bank. There will be no services. A Celebration of life will be arranged at the family's convenience. Arrangements are by Jennings Funeral Home & Crematory.
