Gilbert B. Bosse, 90, of Sarasota, Florida, died September 23, 2013
He was born March 14, 1923 in Evansville, Indiana and moved to Longboat Key, Florida from Temple, Texas in 1985. He retired as President of Griggs International in Belton, Texas and formerly was Executive Vice President of Marble/Imperial Office Furniture in Cleveland, Ohio and President of Imperial Desk Co. in Evansville, Indiana. He served as President of the Wood Office Furniture Institute and as a Director of the National Office Products Association.
He attended Indiana University and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan with a degree in wood technology. During World War II he served as a meteorologist in the United States Army Air Corps.
In Sarasota he and his wife volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years and he attended Church of the Palms Presbyterian USA. Bosse was a member of the University of Michigan Alumni Club of Sarasota, Bird Key Yacht Club and the Longboat Key Club.
Survivors include his wife Kay Koch Bosse of Sarasota; son Jeffrey A. Bosse (Debbie) of Evansville, Indiana; son Gilbert B. Bosse, Jr. of Brentwood, Tennessee; daughter Martha Bosse Lane (John) of Finksburg, Maryland; and Sarah Bosse Gerfen (Chip) of Bethesda, Maryland; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Plymouth Harbor on October 12, 2013 at 3:30.
Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant House, Attn: Sandra Latchner, 5 Penn Plaza, New York, New York 10001. There will be a private burial in Evansville, Indiana.
