LuVerne Conway, 95, of Sarasota died at her home in Plymouth Harbor where she had been a resident for ten years. Previously, she and her late husband Jack T. Conway lived for 21 years on El Vernona Avenue. In her 20 years in Washington, DC she served as Legislative Assistant to a Congressman on the Judiciary Committee. She received her law degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, having attended the University of Chicago and University of Washington. She is remembered for her long and active career in political and community affairs in Sarasota, nationally and internationally. Born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin she is survived by her two daughters Cynthia Conway of Sarasota and Jan Shapin of Rhode Island, and her son Thomas Conway of Washington, DC, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Plymouth Harbor Chapel Friday, December 20 at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Plymouth Harbor Foundation Employee Scholarship Fund or to Tidewell Hospice.
