Pasquale "Pat" Allegro Obituary
Allegro, Pasquale "Pat"
Oct. 28, 1921 - Jan. 27, 2014
Pasquale "Pat" Allegro, 92, of Camillus, NY, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, he lived in Camillus since 1969. He was a 1940 graduate of Assumption High School and an Army Air Corps veteran of WW II.
Pat retired in 1971 after 24 years with GE and also drove a school bus for West Genesee Schools for over 12 years. A communicant of Holy Family Church, he was a member of the Camillus Elks, Moose Club, and the Camillus and Holy Family Senior groups. Pat loved bowling, taking trips to area casinos, trips to Florida, and was an avid Yankee fan. He was always the "rock" of his family, good-natured, and an example of a man who "never met a stranger." His biggest enjoyment was spending time with his family and with his music, including playing his many guitars and mandolins.
Pat was predeceased by his daughter, Ann Marie Allegro, and brother, Frank.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, the former Lucy Almonte; daughters, Patricia A. Allegro of Camillus and Mary Fran Rogers of Sarasota, FL; son, Michael A. of Syracuse; sister, Mary Monopoli of Wilmington, DE; granddaughter, Angel Rayne Allegro of Syracuse; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pat was admired for his wit, generosity and wisdom, which he shared with everyone.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, February 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 7 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Pat will be laid to rest in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt, NY.
Contributions may be made in memory of Pat to The Church of the Holy Family, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
