Bob was elected to serve as Sarasota County Prosecutor from 1960 to 1972, then served as County judge from 1972 to 1984. His wife Barbara, who is now retired, served the local School Board as a teacher at Brentwood Elementary, then principal at Gulf Gate Elementary until 1985.
