Robert M. Robinson, son of Bertha and William Robinson, was born on New Year's Day, 1920, in Saginaw, Michigan. After graduating from Saginaw High School, he attended the University of Michigan as a engineering major. While home on leave from his service as a tank commander in World War II, Rob married Jean M. Robinson, a registered nurse. After his discharge in 1945, he and Jean made their home in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he worked in a car dealership and then opened his own service station. Rob coached a Little League baseball team to a state championship, served as president of the local PTA, and also spent many hours on the golf course, primarily the Washtenaw Country Club. He was active in the First Presbyterian Church in Ypsilanti, where he served as a church elder. Rob particularly relished time at the Holcomb family cabin in upper Michigan, where his zest for adventure was apparent to all. In retirement he played a strong leadership role at Waterside Village in Venice, Florida, where he was president of his condominium group for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Robin Karson, her wife, Carol Betsch, of Amherst (Mass.), his grandson Ethan Karson, Ethan's wife, Tara Robinson, and their son, Milo Robinson Karson, of San Francisco, his grandson Max Karson, Max's wife, Hannah Caruso, of Los Angeles, and several sisters - and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. The family asks that any donations in his memory be made to the Garden Fund, Tidewell Hospice House, Venice. A celebration of his life will be held at Waterside Village Clubhouse, Saturday, February 1st., at 4 p.m.
Ewing Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
