Scott passed away after a long battle with cancer. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in chemistry. During WW2 Scott was assigned to the Manhattan project building equipment for Oak Ridge. At completion of WW2 he was transferred to a radiation research facility with the Atomic Energy Commission in Dayton Ohio. He was discharged as a tech IV. He then went to Indiana University where he obtained an MBA in Management. Scott then was transferred to Monsanto in St Louis Missouri where he worked for 40 + years in various management positions. He served 4 years in Des Peres Missouri as an alderman and was a deacon, elder, and trustee of the Ladue Chapel in St. Louis.
He retired from Monsanto and worked for the I.R.S. and the United Way. In 1993 he moved to Sarasota Florida with his wife Joan. Scott was leader and facilitator of the Man To Man Prostate Cancer Support group. He served on that board for over ten years. Scott served on the American Cancer Society board for 4 years. He was a long time member of the Sarasota investors group.
Survivors include his loving wife Joan, his sister Ellen Johnson of California, his children Lynne Styles of Chicago and Mark Styles of New Mexico, stepchildren Lisa Martino Taylor and Vicki Simon of St Louis, Joe Giucastro of Fort Lauderdale Florida, grandchild Drew Ryder of St Louis, and nieces Jean, Lois and Marylou. Scott was loving and kind and will be remembered always. Service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday at Jennings Funeral Home & Crematory. Donations may be made to Man To Man of Florida or flowers sent to Jennings Funeral Home in Sarasota.
