Antonio G. Valdez Jr. ,of Houston, TX. was born on Oct. 30, 1930 and took the welcoming hands of his "Lord & Savior" the morning of April 30, 2014 at the age of 83. Antonio served in the U.S. Army for 5 years and remained as an Army Reserve for 16 years before retiring in 1969. He was a member of many organizations & a life long member of Resurrection Catholic Church. Antonio patrolled for Citizens Patrol Watch for 26 years & also was an active member of the Houston Citizen Police Academy Alumni. He served as a Precinct Judge for Precinct 079, Elliot Elementary for over 30 years. Antonio was a very dedicated man to his family, friends, and especially his community. Known to be such an honorable man, we know he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Antonio is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Stella; 5 children, Jerry, Michael, Dianna, Antonio the III & Janet; 26 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation hours will begin today from noon until 6pm in the Main Chapel. A 2nd visitation will be held on Sun. May 4, from 3pm-9pm in the Main Chapel. VFW Color Guard Ceremonies will begin at 6:30pm followed by a Rosary recited by the Legions of Mary from Resurrection Church at 7pm. A Funeral Mass officiated by Father Christopher Plant will begin at 10am on Mon. May 5, at Resurrection Church. Rite of Committal will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery where Antonio will be laid to rest with VFW Military Honors performed by Post 8930.
