Obituary Condolences

Bernard/Carolyn Prudhomme Gilbert Bernard Prudhomme was born to Rubye Fike Prudhomme and Philip Walter Prudhomme on August 15, 1929 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Carolyn Pettiss entered this world on October 4, 1930, born to Mary Frances Davis Pettiss and John Oliver Pettiss in Natchitoches, Louisiana. They met while attending Louisiana State University and were married on May 31, 1952 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During their 59 years of marriage, they created a life together that was filled with music, love, tears and laughter. Everyone was welcomed in their home and no one was ever a stranger.
Bernard worked as a geologist for Amoco in New Orleans and Houston, and Westland Oil Company. Carolyn worked to create a healthy, happy, productive home environment for Bernard, herself and their many children. Family was everything to them. Both were active in the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Houston, Texas, with Bernard singing in the choir and Carolyn participating in the Altar Guild. They were also very involved in their children's school activities.
Carolyn departed this world on August 10, 2011. It was their wish to spend eternity together. Bernard joined her on July 29, 2014. They are survived by Carolyn's sister, Nina Jo Armstrong, and brother, John Pettiss, and Bernard's brother, Daniel Prudhomme. They are also survived by their 9 children: Fran Prudhomme, and Paul Tovar, Elaine Hoffman, and husband Richard, Carlton Prudhomme, and wife Cathy, Ellin Gossett, and husband Robert, Beth Golden, and husband Dale, John Prudhomme, and wife Annetta, Thomas Prudhomme, and wife CeCe, Emily McCutcheon, and husband Mike, and Lydia Coathup, and husband Rich. They also are survived by 6 granddaughters, 6 grandsons, and one great granddaughter.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 6, at Dignity Memorial Katy Funeral Home (23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, Texas, 77494). A Memorial Service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit (12535 Perthshire, Houston, Texas, 77079) at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 7, with a reception to follow at the church's parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stratford Playhouse, Parkinson's Society, or any favorite charity chosen by the donor in honor of Carolyn and Bernard.
