Beverly Crowley James, 83, died peacefully Sunday morning February 10, 2013. She was born on August 12, 1929 in Houston, Texas.|
Beverly attended Edgar Allen Poe Elementary School, Sidney Lanier Junior High School, Mirabeau Beauregard Lamar High School, Holton-Arms School, The University of Texas at Austin, Columbia University Graduate School, Houston Baptist University and The University of Houston. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and the Junior League of Houston.
Beverly is preceded in death by her brother, John Thomas Crowley, sister, Barbara Crowley Bellows, and her lifelong friend Harriett James Cartwright. She is survived by her daughter Terrell James and son-in-law Cameron Armstrong; her son David James and daughter-in-law Christine James, and grandchildren Lydia and Lewis.
Beverly was devoted to literature and her family. She was a lifelong Episcopalian, having completed the Church's Education for Ministry Program, and was a member of the Order of Julian of Norwich.
The family would like to express their special thanks to all her devoted caregivers, especially Dorothy Johnson, Elda Prado, and LaJoycelyn Fuselier.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Avenue, Houston, TX 77002.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in Beverly's memory may be directed to The Houston Public Library Foundation, 550 McKinney Street, Houston, Texas 77002.
