ELIZABETH CARROLL McPHERSON GILMER died March 5, 2013. Born May 26, 1917, in Longview, Texas, she has lived in Houston since 1945. Preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Daffan Gilmer and her daughter Margaret McPherson Gilmer, she is survived by her daughters and their husbands: Day and George Watson, Elizabeth and Richard Hagens, and Laurie and Pat Rigby. Her grandchildren are Daffan Watson Nettle and husband Doug , Carroll Watson Carroll and husband Reed, Alice Hagens Russo and husband Nate, Brewster Kerr and wife Jennifer,

Her great-grandchildren are Day and Lillian Nettle; Laurie, Margaret, and Louis Bickel; Cooper Kerr, and Amelia Carroll. The family sincerely appreciates the loving care provided by Matilda Nixon,

Carroll attended Randolph Macon Women's College and the University of Texas and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She was a member of the Junior League of Houston and served as President of the Garden Club of Houston.
The family will receive friends at Bradshaw-Carter Funeral Home, 1734 West Alabama on Friday, March 15, from 5-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church, 6221 Main Street, on Saturday, March 16, at 11 o'clock.
