Charles A. Ruff
of Houston passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 at Houston's Spring Woods United Methodist Church. Born Dec. 14, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio, to Thelma Lorraine Smith Ruff and Joseph Stephen Ruff, Chuck moved to Macon, Georgia, at 15, graduating from Lanier High School and Mercer University, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was honorably discharged. Coming to Houston in 1982 to work for the University of Texas Health Science Center, he began a second career in real estate with Prudential Gary Greene Realtors until his 2005 retirement. He was predeceased by his parents and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include his wife, Susan Colleen Meeker-Ruff, of Houston; daughter Margaret Ruff of Paris, Texas; sisters Jo Ann Tomes (husband Dan) of West Chester, Ohio and Barbara Hartman of West Carrollton, Ohio; mother-in-law Mary Louise Meeker of Asheville, N.C.; sister-in-law Teresa Dianne Thomas (husband Dan) of Lynn Haven, Fla.; brother-in-law John Joseph Meeker of Asheville, N.C., and many nieces and nephews.
