Cheryl Marie Simpson Haelen was born November 16th, 1961 in Wilmington, Delaware. She died May 19th, 2013 in Humble, Texas. She has been married to Phil Haelen since June, 2001.
She was a devoted Christ Follower and was a committed member of Atascocita Community Church. She profoundly loved people, animals, and all living things. Her greatest joy, second only to her faith and family, was camping in the Great Smoky Mountains.
She is survived by her husband, her two daughters Jasmine Haelen and Jessica Haelen, and her stepdaughter Janet Cortez. Also survived by parents Earl and Martina Simpson, sisters Teresa Simpson Dunsmore and Melissa Kaye Simpson Shaw, nieces Samantha McDowell and Destiny Dunsmore, as well as a host of other family and friends who loved her dearly.
Cheryl graduated from North Central University in Illinois with a BS Degree in Biology. She was an Environmental Chemist for more than twenty years in North Carolina and Texas.
She will be remembered by her startling blue eyes, her love of reading and learning, and her phenomenal cooking skills. But above all, Cheryl will be remembered as a loving, caring, amazing woman with a generous, giving heart. However much we miss her and mourn her death, we must believe, as she would say that "it's a God thing" and that He has an everlasting plan for our entire family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Atascocita Community Church in Humble, Texas at 6pm on Sunday, May 26th, 2013. The family requests all attendees to wear bright colors to reflect Cheryl's vibrant zest for life.
