Dale Stafford, 90, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014, at his home in Granbury, Texas.
Service: Visitation with family and friends was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Wiley Funeral Home. Interment will be private on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Acton Cemetery. Members of Granbury Lions Club will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, considerations of contributions to Acton United Methodist Church, 3433 Fall Creek Hwy., Granbury, Texas 76049 or Granbury Lions Club, 3601 Cross Creek Court, Granbury, Texas 76048.
Dale served his country proudly in World War Two. He served in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Marine Corps aboard the USS Saratoga.
Following the war, he graduated from TCU with a degree in Physical Education and later received a Master's Degree from Baylor University. Dale coached athletics for 16 years. 12 of those years were in Marlin, Texas. He truly loved his Marlin Bulldogs. Dale later moved to Houston, Texas where he remained for over 30 years, retiring as principal of Stratford High School. He loved his Lord, his country and his family. Dale truly made a difference in this world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved grandmother, Addie Baldwin and his brothers, Herman and Orville Stafford.
Survivors: Wife, Ruth Stafford of Granbury; sons, James Dale Stafford, Patrick Stafford and wife, Ashley, all of Houston; brother, Jim Stafford; sisters, Joy Looney, Phyllis Allison and husband, Ronnie; and many other friends and relatives.
