Obituary Condolences

Edna Anastasia Healy (Nan) Austin died on January 12, 2014, at her home in Houston, Texas.
Nan was born September 28, 1929 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, a daughter of Col. and Mrs. D. F. Healy. She graduated from Louisiana State University in 1948. She met her future husband, Charles William Austin, in Fort Monroe, Virginia and they were married, in 1951, in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Nan was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter Claire Elizabeth Austin. She is survived by her husband Charles William Austin and her children: Charles William Austin, Jr. and spouse Maggie, Kathleen Adrian Powers and spouse Thomas, Elizabeth Austin West and spouse Larry, Mary Austin Aiken and spouse Glenn, Daniel Lord Austin and spouse Betsy, Tyler Edward Austin and spouse Catherine, Ashley Austin Anderson and spouse Sonny, David Cooney Austin and spouse Carrie, Brian Nevins Austin and spouse Kelley, Keith Kirkpatrick Austin and spouse Karen, Sarah Austin Morris and spouse Phillip.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Samuel Mather Austin and spouse Sarah, Emily Austin Hinds and spouse Tyson, John Buchanan Adrian and spouse Marian, Molly Lockridge Powers, Catherine Louise West, Helen Mather Aiken, Martha Rhea Aiken and Chris Roney, Marshall Eris Aiken, Charles Richard Austin, Mitchell Robert Austin, Madeleine Elizabeth Austin, Lily Marie Austin, Mather Guy Austin, Caroline Sharon Austin, Anastasia Lee Austin, Sara Willard Austin, Hanna Healy Austin, William Tyler Austin, Brian Travis Austin, Kathleen Grace Austin, Spencer Austin Morris, Ashley Geneva Morris and David Richard Morris.
She is survived by her great grandchildren: Alison Jeanette Austin, Charlotte Austin Hinds, Thomas Oliver Hinds, Finley Buchanan Adrian, Eloise Rose Adrian and Lillian Claire Roney.
Nan is also survived by her brother Daniel Francis Healy and spouse Margaret, her sister Margaret Baker Cooney and spouse David, her brother Edward Morlan Ellington Healy and spouse Patricia and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nan enjoyed growing up an "Army brat" and her days at L.S.U. She loved day trips to Galveston, the kid's ball games, tennis, swim meets, water skiing, Bayou Bend and teaching school children about George Washington. She was a kind, gentle and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family especially thanks Mrs. Frankie Patterson and Mrs. Sue Greer for their kind and loving attention to Mrs. Austin's care.
A Memorial service for Edna Anastasia Healy Austin will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, Houston, Texas, on Wednesday January 15, 2014 at 10:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made, in Mrs. Austin's honor, to St. Michael's Catholic School, Boys and Girls Country, Bayou Bend or the .
