Edward L. Best , 80, of Spring, Texas, beloved husband and best friend of Dot for 56 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on March 12, 2013. Ed was born in Mullins, South Carolina. He attended Mullins High School and later went on to earn his Bachelors Degree from Tulane University. Ed also spent several years in the US military. Ed was an accountant by profession and retired from Exxon Corporation after 35 years. He had many longtime coworkers of which many became his close friends.

Besides his wife Dot, Ed is survived by his two daughters, Jenni Woolf of Richland, Michigan, and Dee Niskanen of The Woodlands, Texas; his grandchildren, Alex, Emily, Jonathan and Katie; as well as two sisters, Clara and Mary Ruth, and two brothers, Ted and Ralph.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, ICU nurses and staff at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. Their dedication and effort to provide outstanding quality care over the last 2 months were a heartwarming blessing to the family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him. A memorial will be held honoring Ed on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Northwoods Presbyterian Church, 3320 FM 1960 Rd W, Houston, TX. Reverends Dr. Paul Nazarian and David Leard will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends after the service at the family home in Spring, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to Northwoods Presbyterian Church.
