Edward Joseph Klein , lifelong native Houstonian, born Feb. 11, 1923 in Houston's St. Joseph Hospital. Son of Nathan J. Klein and Sarah B. Klein. Graduate of Lamar High School and Texas A&M University. Proud member of the Texas A&M Aggie Corps. Graduated with a commission in the US Army where he served in Italy as "Liaison Pilot," one of "The Originals" - the first Organic US Army Aviators. He retired with the rank of Captain. President of Klein Ice Cream and Klein Properties. Hunter, sportsman, pilot, world traveler. Avid supporter of the Sul Ross Scholarship Fund and a Member of Temple Emanu El. Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son, Edward is survived by loving wife Julie G. Klein, by daughters Debbie Klein of Houston, and Edwina Klein Ruderman of Manhattan Beach, California, and son Nathan J. Klein II of Houston. Grandchildren Jennifer and Natalie Klein and David Ruderman. Sister Martha Klein Lottman of Canton, Ohio. Brother- and sister-in-law Tom and Carolyn Grant, of Cummings Georgia. Preceded in death by brother Ernest B. Klein of Houston, and sister Shirley Klein Markey of San Antonio. Graveside services will be held at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1207 West Dallas Street, this afternoon at 1:30pm. Roy A. Walter will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Texas A&M Commandant Corps of Cadets Scholarship Fund, Jewish Family Service of Houston, Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services or charities of your choice.
