Dr. Elwood Nestvold (known to his friends as Woody) was born on March 19, 1932 in Minot, North Dakota to Ole and Hilda Nestvold. Woody proudly served in the US Air Force and attended Augsburg College and the University of Minnesota, earning a PhD in Physics. Woody is survived by his loving wife Jeannette; his sons, Paul & Mike; his daughters, Rebecca, Michele & Jennifer; his grandchildren, Matthew, Grace, Greg & Connor; as well as his daughter-in-law Julie and son-in-law Karl. Woody was a highly regarded Geophysicist and distinguished lecturer, pioneering many of the modern theories, processes and techniques used today in the field of geophysics. The family would like to extend special thanks to the team of caregivers at MD Anderson who made his final days as comfortable as they could be. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, 1:30 pm at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77074. Rabbi Roy A. Walter will officiate.
