Dr.  Fred H.y. Liu Obituary
Fred Hsing Yueh Liu Fred H.Y. Liu, M.D., 91, of Houston, TX was born in Hangzhou, China, on September 5, 1922, and died on December 3, 2013. He studied medicine at the Aurora University Medical School in Shanghai, graduating with an M.D. degree, and came to the U.S. in 1950. In 1951, he married his college sweetheart, Lillian Chu, who was the love of his life. They were married for over 61 years, until she passed away in May, 2013. He practiced pulmonary medicine for 35 years, starting in Farmingdale, NY, then at the East Texas Chest Hospital, in Tyler, TX, and later at the University of Texas at Tyler Health Center. He retired in 1986, and moved to Houston, TX, to be closer to his daughter and her family. He showed unwavering devotion to caring for his wife during the last difficult decade of her life. He also loved his children and grandchildren and stressed to them the importance of education. He delighted in the fact that all three of his children and at least one of his grandchildren had followed in his footsteps as a medical doctor. He loved classical music and adored his wife who was a pianist and piano teacher in Tyler. He will be remembered for his selflessness, kindness, and love.
He is survived by his children, Dr. Eddie Liu and wife Irby, of Longview, TX, Dr. Elizabeth Tang and husband Dr. James Tang, of Houston, TX, and Dr. John Liu and wife Suzanne, of Waco, TX, and grandchildren Brittany and Mason Liu, James, Jeff, and John Tang, and Alex and Katie Liu and step grandchildren Chad Gilbert and Teri Gilbert Crowson. A private memorial service was held in Houston, TX.
