George Marion Colvill passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 19, 2013 due to natural causes after a rewarding life of 85 years. Born in Columbus, Ohio on December 21, 1927, George was the son of Irene and Marion Colvill.
George grew up in Dallas, Texas and Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Mount Lebanon High School he attended college at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. At MIT he served as president and 50-year loyal member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and was a member of the rowing crew. At that time he met his wife Jacqueline Marie Donohue ("Jake") who attended Boston University. Jake was a loyal wife and partner and they brought out the best in each other. They were married in Elkton, Maryland on July 20, 1951 and enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. George served for 2 years in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1948. He and his family were always very proud of his military service. George worked in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Cincinnati, Ohio for many years before being transferred to Houston, Texas in 1968 where he and Jake raised their family. He spent most of his career working in Houston where he was owner of Lubrication Systems and Colvill Industrial Sales having worked hard to grow a very successful business. He was always thankful to the many loyal employees at Lubrication Systems for their dedication to the company where he enjoyed many strong friendships.
George loved to golf, sail, fish, snow ski, and travel and he passed these great hobbies on to his children. He will always be remembered for forcing his family to watch his photo slide shows of family trips/events and of his many business trips to Europe and Asia. After retirement, George and Jake lived in Rockport, Texas for many years, before moving to Whitefish, Montana.
George loved the outdoors and he and Jake developed many strong friendships in Rockport and Whitefish for which they are very grateful. Jake and George ultimately settled in The Woodlands, Texas where he enjoyed his final days playing golf and making many new friends. George is preceded in death by his mother, Irene, his father, Marion, and his stepmother, Dodie. He is survived by his wife, Jake Colvill, brother, Chris Colvill and his wife Mary Beth, 3 children, Tracy, Sydney, Chip and Chip's wife Vivian and his grandchildren Cameron, Kayla, Claire, and Clay.
