Gladys "Pauline" Swayze McCorvey passed away June 12, 2014 at the age of 88 in Houston, Texas. Pauline was born January 11, 1926 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to Gladys and Richard Swayze she moved to Houston in September 1945 where she met and married the love of her life Raymond S McCorvey December 1, 1951.
Pauline grew up in Arkansas and attended Arkansas State Teachers College.
After the war, because of a shortage of teachers, she taught school in Sheridan, Arkansas for a short period of time before moving to Houston. She then enrolled in the University of Houston and graduated with a bachelors degree. She continued her education at the University of Texas Medical School at Hermann Hospital and graduated with a degree in Physical Therapy.
After graduation she was employed at Gonzales Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital in Gonzales, Texas where she worked primarily with polio patients.
After marrying Raymond, she became a wife and a mother, raising three children, Tony, Robert and Carla.
She loved to write poetry and to write about different life experiences which she put together in a book for all of the family to enjoy. She was also an accomplished pianist and loved to travel. She traveled extensively during her lifetime.

Pauline was very involved in politics and was honored by the Texas Federation of Republican Women. She served three times as a delegate to the Texas State Republican Party convention, three times as a delegate to Texas Federation of Republican Women conventions and two times as a delegate to the National Federation of Republican Women Conventions. She was a long time member and past President of the Glenbrook Valley Republican Women's Club. She and her husband, Raymond, opened the first Republican Headquarters in Galena Park, Texas in 1960.
She loved spending time with her family and going to her Bible study group, Covenant Keepers, at Second Baptist Church of Houston where she also attended church.
She is survived by her son, Tony McCorvey and wife, Mitzy; daughter, Carla Craig; Daughter-in-law, Helene McCorvey, wife of the late Robert McCorvey.
Grandchildren: Kristal Crites, Tony McCorvey, Jr, Charlie McCorvey, Brandi Ratliff, Matthew Thornton, Tristen Patton, Jason McCorvey, Natasha Draper, Chelsea McCorvey, Anthony Craig, Allen Craig
Great Grandchildren: Kennedy Crites, Kambell Crites, McKenna Ratliff, Barrett Ratliff, Caden McCorvey, Jaxon Draper, Gavin Draper.
Sister, Mary Grass
Niece, Vicki Grass and Nephew, Randy Von Graff and longtime friend of the family, Kathy Patton
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond S. McCorvey and son, Robert McCorvey.
Visitation will be at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 1101 Antoine, Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM
Funeral Service to be held in the Chapel at Second Baptist Church of Houston, 6400 Woodway, on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 10:30 AM
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery immediately following Monday's service
