Harry Dale Cook , age 90, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2013 in Kingwood, Texas. He was born on April 16, 1922 in New Willard, Texas.
Harry attended the University of Texas, worked for the FBI before he joined the Navy serving in World War II as well as the Korean War. As a pilot, he had the honor of flying security over the USS Missouri during the unconditional surrender of Japan. After his time in the Navy he went to work for McCullough Tool in Houston, and Baroid Oil also in Houston.
Before Harry would leave to serve his country, he married his beloved wife Mary on October 9, 1944 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lufkin, Texas. They spent 68 loving years together.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife Mary Vernelle Cook of Kingwood, Texas, three daughters; Sandra Bell and her husband Steve of McKinney, Texas, Mary Cook, and Nancy Frank and her husband John of Humble, Texas, and three sons; Vincent Cook, Joe Cook and his wife Maureen of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Steve Cook and his wife Frances of Houston, Texas.
Harry also leaves behind eleven grandchildren; Theresa Lane, Stephanie Bell, JJ Frank, Nathan Frank, Trevor Cook, Travis Cook, Christopher Cook, Courtney Chavera, Corey Cook, Steve Cook, and Alyssa Cook, as well as thirteen great grandchildren; Kelsey Lane, Brennan Lane, Mason Lane, Brooks Bell, Andrew Frank, Harrison Frank, Jonathan Frank, Ali Chavera, Alayna Chavera, AJ Chavera, Dylan Cook, Kyleigh Cook, and Cayden Cook.
Harry Cook was known for his devotion to his wife, his love for his family, service to his country, and his love for a game of dominoes. He will forever be missed.
The family of Harry Cook will receive friends for a visitation at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339, on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will take place at St. Martha's Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, Texas 77365, on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Cook will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery following the funeral mass. For those who prefer to make a donation in lieu of flowers the family has asked they be made to the Wounded Warriors Project. Donations can be made online or to Wounded Warrior Project, P. O.
