Henry Lundy Howland, age 72, of Houston, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2013.

Henry was born on August 1, 1941 to the late Henry D. and late Katheryn Howland in Houston, TX. After graduating from St. Thomas High school in 1959, he attended the University of Texas in Austin from 1959-1963. In 1963, he began his 32 year career with IBM, which allowed him to live in several different cities and states eventually bringing him to Huntsville, TX, where he resided with his late wife Judith Anne Harris Howland. After retirement in 1995, Henry co-founded Catbirds in Houston, TX, and continued to be an integral part of running the bar until the day he died.
Henry is survived by his daughter, Heather Alison Smith and son Henry Harris Howland and his wife, Angela Howland. He has 6 grandchildren: Krysta Saul; Henry, Harris, Hunter, Hayden and Harold Howland. He is also survived by his brother John Howland and his sister, Barbara Augelli and her children Virginia Sevier, Mike and Kevin Augelli; as well as several 2nd and 3rd cousins and numerous friends. Anyone who met Henry, or "Hank" and "Dumpa" as he was affectionately called, would automatically feel like they had a friend for life.
There will be memorial service and gathering for his family and friends on Sunday, December 22, 2013, at 1:00pm at Catbirds: 1336 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77006. Casual Attire is welcome.
