Henry Martin Whistler , 68, of Galena Park, passed from this life on August 9, 2014. He was born February 15, 1946 in Houston, Texas to Elbert and Ruth Whistler. Henry proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War in Echo Company, 2/9, 3rd Marines ID, Weapons Platoon. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Earnest Whistler, Josephine Warnock; and wife of 42 years, Sharon Whistler. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Alissa Worley & husband, Gary, Anthony Whistler, Jeremy Whistler & wife, Brandy; by grandchildren, Charlie, Chase, Colby and McKenzie; sisters and brother, Carolyn Doughtie, Mary Ann Seher, Lydia Ruth Brown, Eva DeCuir, Susan Mingee, Judy Barnes, Bonnie Davidson, Samuel Whistler; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 5-8:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Chuck Butler. A Funeral Rite, officiated by Father Roger Estorque, will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 8215 Reservoir Rd., Houston, TX 77049 with a reception to follow at the church. Graveside services with military honors will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX 77077 under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.
