Herbert Venable Carson, Jr. better known as "Herb" passed away peacefully in his sleep August 5, 2014, one day short of his 65th wedding anniversary to the "Love of his life" Reedie Carson. Born August 20, 1926, Herb was 87.
Herb loved life and enjoyed such things as flying, golf, singing but most of all he loved helping others. Herb served in the US Air force as a flight instructor at the end of World War II. He graduated from the North Carolina State University with honors with a BS degree in industrial engineering. He started his career in 1951 as an industrial engineer but soon Exxon recognized Herb love of teaching and transferred him to Marketing. Herb ultimately advanced to Marketing Training Manager for the United States for Exxon Mobil where he retired in 1986. Some of his achievements were, Director of the Chapelwood Foundation 1998-2001, Life Time Member Chapelwood United Methodist Church Administrative Board 2002, Board Member & President Victorian Owners Association 1983-1986, proud member since 1974 of Chapelwood, and also served as President Adult Choir.
Herb was preceded in death by his Mother Edith Cecil Carson, Father Dr. Herbert V. Carson, sisters Edith Cecil Morgan, and Mary Ellen DeLana and survived by his loving wife Reedie Carson, daughter Cecie Carson, Son Carl G. Carson, three grandchildren multiple nieces and nephews and many other loved ones. .
Memorial services will be held in the Chapel at Chapelwood United Methodist Church 11140 Greenbay, Houston, TX 77024 at 1:00pm Monday August 11, 2014 followed by a reception in the Mezzanine at the Buckingham 8580 Woodway Dr., Houston, TX 77063 2:30pm - 4:00pm
In lieu of flowers Contributions, in memory of Herb, may be directed to the Chapelwood Foundation 11140 Greenbay, Houston, TX, 77024 or to Vantage Hospice 21720 Kingsland Blvd. #301, Katy, TX 77450.
The Family would like to convey special thanks to the entire nursing staff of The Plaza and to Vantage Hospice for their loving care of Herb helping Herb's passing with love, dignity and respect.
