Herman Crumpler Obituary
Herman Kerr Crumpler , 89, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. Born in Clinton, N.C. to Ben and Sudie Crumpler, he married Lois Lee and soon relocated to Houston, Texas in search of a good life. Herman served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard The Cruiser USS Houston which was torpedoed several times off the coast of Formosa. Herman was on board while being towed back to the states. Herman and Lois moved to the Lake house outside West Columbia some 34 years ago upon retirement. Herman grew up in a large family of bricklayers and he brought his trade to Texas. He was a member of Bricklayer's Local #7 for more than 50 years and became part of the start of W. W. Bartlett Masonry Co. with dear friend Bill Bartlett in 1952. Herman is survived by his loving wife Lois Crumpler; son Chuck and Madge Crumpler; daughter Donna and Jimmy Ezzell; daughter Candy and Charles Fife; daughter Sandy and Elvis Stone; and youngest son Robert. He also had 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren creating large get-togethers for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and many birthdays which he got to cook Bar-B-Que for everyone. Herman lost many close friends over the past years which always saddened him, but he always had friends Brian Stieb, Dan Black, and Robert Philman nearby. The family recognizes his closest and dearest friend "Sam" for everything he did for daddy up to the last day.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster. Funeral Services will be at 12:30 PM Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Forest Park East Chapel, Webster, TX. Interment will follow in Forest Park East Cemetery.
