Jerry Kyle Obituary
Jerry R. Kyle 97yrs., died June 29th. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Carol. He is survived by son Jerry M. Kyle, his partner Jill Kelly, former wife Marie Kyle and their daughter Kelley, and by his daughter Kathy Cannon, her husband Lee, and her children Doug Cooper and family, Zach Sharpe, Sue Conger and family, Ed Sharpe and family, Monica Cannon, and Tim Cannon and family.
Jerry graduated from Carleton College in 1937 followed by graduate work in Geology at the Univ. of Texas. He ultimately served as Administrative Head of Exxon's geophysical oil exploration activities in the U.S., South America, the Middle East and Africa. He eventually created a small corporation named Peminex to do photo geological consulting work.
He was an Air Force pilot in WWII and flew the largest planes of the day, the B-24 and B-29 bombers. He went on to lead a full and rich life with his wife, Carol, and two children. He served on the Board of Directors of the Parkinson Foundation of Harris County and participated late in life in the annual Wings Over Houston air show. He received both inspiration and friendship at the Emerson Unitarian Church.
Friends and family members will miss hearing the true stories he would tell of his adventures around the world. He shared his love of the outdoors and travel with his family and built a log cabin in the majestic mountains of Colorado near Crested Butte which has been used by family for fifty years. A Celebration of his Life will be held at his home July 3rd at 4:00pm.
