Joel Stewart died on May 17th from complications of abdominal cancer. He is survived by his brother Tim (Eddie), and nephews Alan and Michael, sons Joey (Laura), Alan (Lisa) and Steve (Amy) and grandson Welsley Joel, daughter Joni (Michael) and grandsons Kian and Liam and granddaughter Erin. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Jane. Joel was a longtime management consultant and co-founded The Westview School in 1981, a private not for profit school for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders where he acted as Chief Financial Officer. He was born and raised in Iowa and attended Simpson College and received a BBA and MBA from the University of Iowa and has been a resident of Houston since 1968. He was a lover of wine and was the first American president of the International Wine and Food Society. The family thanks Dr Ronald Mahoney and family for their professional care and personal support over the years. The Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Cecilia Church, 11720 Joan of Arc St. Houston, TX 77024 on Wednesday, May 22nd at 12:30pm. Celebrant is Bishop Vincent Rizzotto. Following the service the family will receive guests and there will be a reception at Royal Oaks Country Club 11839 Meadowglen Lane Houston, TX 77082. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Westview School www.westviewschool.org
