Johnny Clyde Dean beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on January 3, 2013, while surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years Nellie Stemmann Dean, their four children, Sandy Ng and husband Dennis, Carolyn Dean and Gabriel Garcia, Milton Dean and wife Lori, Kenneth Dean and wife Andrea, twenty-one grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, further extended family and innumerable friends, all of whom will miss him immensely.
J.C. (as he was affectionately known) was preceded in death by his three brothers, Alphus Dean, Milton Dean, Ray Dean, his father Conley Dean, and mother Aline Durand Johnson.
Johnny was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on June 27, 1928. After graduating from Oak Hill High School in 1945, he joined the U.S. Navy where he proudly served our country on the island of Guam as a Seabee during World War II. In Lake Charles, Louisiana Johnny met Nellie Stemmann, they fell in love and were married on April 12, 1958. They moved to Houston, where Johnny worked as an analytical chemist for Petro-Tex Chemical (Bayer Chemical) and retired from Bayer in 1991, with over 30 years of service.
Johnny (Paw-Paw) had a passion for gardening, back yard BBQs, fishing, and visiting in his garage with family, friends, and neighbors. He was always there for everyone and he loved to be outdoors with family and friends. The love and gratitude he bestowed upon his family was an integral part of his daily life. He was so proud of all his children and grandchildren, and his beloved memory will be cherished always.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11th from 6:00-8:00pm at Niday Funeral Home Fairmont in Pasadena, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12th 11:00am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church with graveside services to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
