Joseph Louis Brown III 48, passed away Thursday September 12, 2013. |
Eldest child to Joseph and Marie Brown of Houston, TX, Louis grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated from Verde Valley High School in Sedona, AZ. He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a BA in History in 1991.
Louis had a brilliant mind, quick wit and sharp intellect unmatched by most. Along with that brilliant mind was a sensitive heart and soul. He was generous beyond compare and always ready to help others.
He was an accomplished network administrator and used his technical skills to support his father's business in Houston. He eventually took his talents to Pittsburgh, PA, where he found a great community of friends, neighbors and co-workers. His diverse group of friends included Educators, Doctors, Artists, Architects, Designers and IT professionals all interested in teaching, learning, healthy discussion and debate.
An active member of his community in Pittsburgh, Louis was well researched in Pittsburgh architecture. He also had a vast knowledge of Texas and World History. He devoured books on almost every subject imaginable and was constantly learning and teaching others.
He is survived by his parents Joe and Marie Brown, sisters Erin Brown and Julie McMahon, brother in law Kevin McMahon, of Houston, as well as five nephews and nieces: Joe, Gwyneth, David, Lillian and Genevieve McMahon who adored him and loved spending time with their uncle. They will miss him dearly.
He is also survived by an incredible group of neighbors, coworkers and friends, most especially Claude Mauk of Pittsburgh P.A. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the love and support they received while in Pittsburgh.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Houston Public Library or the Carnegie Library System in Pittsburgh.
A reception of family, co-workers, friends and neighbors was held in Pittsburgh. His Houston family is planning a private memorial.
