Joseph Melton Obituary
Joseph "Earl" Melton went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 6, 2014 after a heroic battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born January 26, 1932 in Monroe, Louisiana. He graduated from Louisiana State University, served in the Army and in 1953, married the love of his life, Jane Rawlins.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, James McLemore and Ada Rai Melton and his sister, Betty Rai Watkins. He is survived by his bride of 60 years, Jane, and brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Beverly Melton. He is also survived by his four children and their spouses, Lynn and Gary Koonce, Lee and Peggy Melton, Lisa and Brad New, Libba and Mike Maddry, fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held March 29 at 2:09 PM at Cypress Bible Church, 11711 Cypress North Houston Road in Cypress. A reception will follow.
Dear to his heart were Young Life and the times he spent leading bible studies through Bible Study Fellowship at the Texas State Penitentiary in Huntsville.
