Judith Newby Obituary
Judith (Judy) Eileen Newby, 58, passed away peacefully in her Houston, Texas home Apr. 27 2013. Born Mar. 24, 1955 in Tampa, Fl., she devoted her life to fostering children, spending more than 30 years caring for them, especially those needing a special kind of love the most. Judy was honored with many deserving awards through the foster care system. She was also a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 8790.
She was preceded in death by her father, Don Ballard, and survived by mother, Carolyn Ballard. She was also survived by her life partner, Eric Schumaker; sisters, Linda Guajardo, Sandra Phillips and husband, Wallace Phillips, Don Ballard and wife, Susan Ballard; children Christopher and Demetrie Newby; grandchildren Raymond, Joseph, Angelica, and Robbie. She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews, as well as 12 grandnieces and grandnephews.
Services are to be held May 1 2013 at Leal Funeral Home, 2200 Wilcrest Dr. Houston, Texas 77042; the wake is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a chapel service from 12 to 1 p.m. and burial from 1 to 2 p.m. at Forrest Park Westheimer Cemetery at 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.
If a donation is preferable in lieu of flowers, please contribute them toward the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the VFW.
