Lee Henslee Obituary
Lee Walter Henslee III, 77, of Spring, Texas, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 12, 2014.
Lee was born May 23, 1936 in Galveston, Texas. He graduated from Ball High School in 1953 and received a BA of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 1957. In 1963 he was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the UT School of Law.
Lee married Linda Gaynelle Hunter on November 3, 1956 in Austin, Texas. After their marriage, Lee and his family lived in Austin, Fort Worth, Houston, Tyler, Venezuela, and Malaysia. They settled in Spring, Texas where they have lived the past 34 years.
Lee spent more than 30 years working as an attorney for Exxon, where he earned an esteemed reputation for his expertise in contract law. While he was proud of all his work for Exxon, he took special pride in his accomplishments in Malaysia and with Friendswood Development Company, an Exxon Subsidiary.
Lee was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a passion for many things, including, but not limited to, chocolate, football, baseball, music, reading, tennis, traveling, Galveston history, coaching, skeet shooting, bird-hunting, driving back roads, writing poetry, drawing, and, most of all, making those around him laugh. He collected tiger and duck figurines, walking canes and Civil War books. His private library of Civil War and Texas history is extensive and unparalleled.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, L. Walter Henslee II and Martha Hanna and his granddaughter Christina Henslee.
Lee is survived by Linda, his loving wife of 56 years; and their three children Gay, Lee, Robert and wife, Amy Henslee; three sisters, Frances Arnold of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sarah Buehrer of Walnut Creek, California and Nancy Henderson of Shreveport, Louisiana; one sister-in-law, Vicki Baldwin of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Lindsey, Lee V, Lauren, Hunter, Tara, Mackenzie and Isabella.
The visitation will be at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W. Main, in Tomball, Texas at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 17. The funeral will be held at the same location at 10 a.m. followed by a burial service at Klein Memorial Park.
